Peel Valley Occupational Therapy is locally owned and operated by Amanda Bell. Amanda is based near Tamworth NSW, and services the New England and North Western region of NSW.

Peel Valley Occupational Therapy consults older adults in receipt of Home Care Packages, in addition to DVA (White or Gold Card) patients referred by GPs or hospital discharge teams for Occupational Therapy services in the community.

What to expect with a home visit from the Occupational Therapist?

Occupational therapy for older people focuses on enhancing the person’s ability, safety and independence in completing activities of daily living (such as preparing meals, showering and dressing) in their environment.

The Occupational Therapist will interview the person (or spouse/carer if more appropriate) and review the accessibility of the home. The Occupational Therapist will also review existing equipment or modifications in place.

The Occupational Therapist considers the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social aspects of the person to support healthy ageing and determine areas of intervention needed. Falls prevention strategies are also considered to reduce a person’s risk of sustaining a fall.

The Occupational Therapist will make recommendations at the time of the home visit and discuss these with the person, their carer or spouse.

The Occupational Therapist is committed to assisting people to work towards their goals of living at home for as long and as safely as possible.

Getting Around

The Occupational Therapist services areas within around a 3 hour radius of Tamworth, this includes larger towns and outlying communities. Where possible, the Occupational Therapist will aim to consult a few people around the same vicinity on the same day.
